The Blag Club, 68 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HT (map)
Time: 7.30pm Price: A fiver
Reliving this year's birthday glories in London's glamorous Notting Hill, Wayne and the boys return to well-known upstairs basement venue The Blag Club to celebrate the launch of the exciting new Live CD as recorded at Monkey Chews back in July. It's not that complicated really. Do come. It will be good and you will like it. More details as they come in.
Monkey Chews, 2 Queens Crescent, Chalk Farm, London, London, NW5 4EP (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Five squid on the door
You can hear what happened the last time we went to Monkey Chews over on the mp3 page. Should be a fine night, with Blabbermouth, Liz Arcane and Ayu Okakita also on the bill. Hope to see you there.
Victoria Park Embankment, Villiers Street, WC1 (map)
Time: 2pm Price: Free
I'll be playing a solo acoustic set in the afternoon at the wonderful Bluepeace festival in the bandstand in the park by Embankment Tube station. Bizarrely I've been billed as Fast Freddie, which is not a name I've used for some while, but never mind, it's the same songs anyway. Hang around and later on you can catch me playing again with rock band Vivachi. This is something like the fifth year in a row I've played there and it's always a lovely day out, Bluepeace, so do come, it'll be great.
The Blag Club, 68 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HT (map)
Time: 8pm (give or take) Price: Fiver (I think)
It's all happening this summer, you know. Including a Very Special Birthday Gig at the Notting Hill blagclub, where Wayne - together once again with Hezron Chetty on violin and Paul Tkachenko on bass - will celebrate being Far Too Damn Old with a mix of old and new songs, old and new friends, and an arguable certain amount of sneaking off round the corner to some pub that actually serves Guinness. You should probably come to this one. Really. More news as we get it.
Monkey Chews, 2 Queens Crescent, Chalk Farm, London, London, NW5 4EP (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Not Sure
Shh. You are not to tell anybody about this secret gig, because it is a secret. And I'm not inviting just anyone to this, but being as you are special, you are allowed to come to this one if you like but ONLY if you also come to the birthday gig at the blagclub on the 23rd July, where it is entirely key that I bring as many people as possible. Mind you, I've got the excellent Hezron Chetty on violin and the superb Paul Tkachenko on bass for this one, so I wouldn't blame you for coming this time too.
The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Free
They do like us at the Abbey Tavern, and we like them. This means it's All Good. Not only that but this one is going to be a full band outing, with drums and bass and everything you could possibly want including the extremely excellent Ali Whitton on the bill as well. So do come down, as long as you also come to the birthday gig at the Blag Club on the 23rd, obviously, which is even more Not To Be Missed than this one.
MI7 Stage at Cafe Tango in Glastonbury, A field in Somerset
Time: 7:30pm Price: Free
Another last minute Glasto spot, this time on the excellent MI7 stage at the Cafe Tango place. Wayne would have played a longer set but cut it a bit short to go and see Leonard Cohen instead. Which is Fair Enough, all in all, methinks.
Small World Stage Glastonbury, A field in Somerset
Time: 5am Price: Free
Much fun was had at this last minute 5am session, especially later on when the congas, bongos, double bass, other guitar and freestyle rapper turned up. Yum.
Secret Venue, That would be telling
Time: TBC Price: TBC
It's all rather mysterious, really, but Wayne and the boys have been invited to play secretly at this secret festival which is to be held in a secret location. Can you keep a secret? Mail Wayne and he might tell you more...
The Chapel Project, 62 Nunhead Grove, Nunhead, London SE15 3LY (map)
Time: 5pm till late Price: Five squid (three squid conches)
Those lovely Down2Earth people have asked Wayne back yet again (this will be a third time) to play at their forthcoming benefit do in Sunny Nunhead. Nunhead is near Peckham, apparently, although I can guarantee neither nuns nor heads. Should be a fun night, with the usual collection of music, film, food and All Round Good Things. More details here.
The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)
Time: 8pm or so Price: Free
Well. We had such a good time playing for the lovely Soundbites people last month or so that they've asked us back. More details as I get them but I am hopeful that this time around there will be drums and bass. Also beverage. This is important. No-one is allowed to be thirsty.
The Montague Arms, 289, Queens Rd, New Cross, London, SE15 2PA (map)
Time: 8.30pm Price: Three squid - two squid concession
The very excellent Frog Morris has invited me to head south to the very lovely Montague Arms in New Cross, just round the corner from where I used to live, and play songs suitable for Maytime. Sheer Z, Duncan Ward and Mark Quinn also performing in a night of music, performance art and comedy. Not sure which category I'll be fitting into. We'll see.
Shunt, Joiner Street, London SE1 (map)
Time: Doors 8pm, playing 11:30pm Price: Tenner for non-members
Wayne will be playing a late solo acoustic set as part of Serena Bobowski's Human Geographies show at popular avant-garde members bar Shunt - see here for more details. Doors are at 8pm and as ever there's all kinds of other wonderful stuff happening too.
The Blag Club, 68 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HT (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Four squid
Time to go West, my little chickadees, to go West. Notting Hill style West, to be precise, for an acoustic outing at the Notting Hill Blag Club, also known as the blagclub for the shift-key impaired. If there is a Blagclub Blog I can't find it, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.
Great Hall of Queen Mary University, Mile End Road, E1 4NS (map)
Time: 10am to 5pm Price: Four pounds on the day, three pounds advance
Exciting times are afoot as Wayne finally manages to make it to his very first ever Web Comics Convention type Thing, this one being conveniently located in London unlike most of the others which are in the States and something of a shlep. Wayne will be sharing a table with the excellent Dee Hews of Lights Out, and you can read more about the Thing over on the official Thing Site. NB, this is not actually a gig gig as such, though Wayne will probably be bringing a guitar along anyway.
The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)
Time: TBC Price: TBC
It's a good thing I like Kentish Town as this would be a second gig in a row there. So freshly booked as I type this it still has the plastic wrapping on it - full details to emerge as and when I get them.
The Bullet Bar, 147 Kentish Town Road, London NW1 8PD (map)
Time: 7.45 Price: A fiver
It's a Fit and the Conniptions gig at the Bullet Bar. My Federation and the Drookit Dogs also playing. Doors are at 7.45 but we'll be on later at 10:30. Hope to see you there.
333 Motherbar, 333, Old Street, London EC1V 9LE (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Five Squid, four with flyer
An unexpected excursion to Old Street, where we have not played since we were Fast Freddie, but we got asked by the lovely Smoky Carrot people so we had no choice but to say yes. This time it's that famous venue 333 the Motherbar, where we have not played before and which certainly never used to have live bands years ago. Just like Old times, then, only totally different.
Buffalo Bar, 11 Windsor Place, Cardiff CF10 3BY (map)
Time: Cancelled owing to circumstances Price: TBC
It's roadtrip time for Fit and the Conniptions - at long last - as Wayne and cohorts head up the M4 to play a one-off gig at the excellent Buffalo Bar in Cardiff. This at least is the plan. Can't wait.
The Dublin Castle, 94, Parkway, Camden NW1 7AN (map)
Time: First on Price: I'll let you know
An exciting full band outing to Camden's glamorous Dublin Castle, where Wayne has not played since the Lovejuice disaster three years ago. Since that was positively the very worst gig ever, by anyone, this can only go better. Actually, it promises to be Rather Good. Really.
The Hope And Anchor, 207 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RL (map)
Time: Fiver, four fifty with flyer Price: 8pm
Rearranged from the previous week's cancellation, it's a welcome return for Wayne to this legendary matchbox sized venue, scene of his triumphant Best Gig Ever To Which No-One Came At All last year or so, though to be honest you could probably fit two Betsy Trotwoods in there, and having said which I've heard it's been done up lately and may be a bit bigger now, plus I haven't been in ages so I don't know for sure. But I digress. Where were we? Oh yes, a gig. That's right. A gig. Acoustic trio duo styley. Please to come. It will be good.
The Hope And Anchor, 207 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RL (map)
Time: Never Price: None
A welcome return for Wayne to this legendary matchbox sized venue, scene of his triumphant Best Gig Ever To Which No-One Came At All last year or so, though to be honest you could probably fit two Betsy Trotwoods in there, and having said which I've heard it's been done up lately and may be a bit bigger now, plus I haven't been in ages so I don't know for sure. Reflections Gallery Bar, 71 Great Titchfield Street, London W1W 6RB (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Free
Sshh! Don't tell anyone about this super-secret free acoustic trio outing for Wayne, Nick Onley on sax and Thomas Quillfeldt on bass, which will be secretly filmed by a hidden camera prior to being broadcast on the intertubes as part of Wayne's extremely original Take Over The World With Music project. And certainly don't come. Oh alright, do come. And tell everyone you know. But - shhh - gently does it.
My Place Night Club, 1-3 Trebovir Rd, London, London, SW5 9LS (map)
Time: Not Happening Price: Gig cancelled
This will not after all be a full band outing for Wayne and the band, this time in a more Westerly than Easterly direction, and not in Leytonstone for once. More details as we get them, since the promoters, Trinity Force Music, are no longer running gigs at this (or indeed, as far as I can tell any other) venue. It would have been really nice if they'd actually told me, but fortunately I am getting old and cranky and I checked with the venue itself. Sorry about that.
The Mau Mau Bar, 265 Portobello Rd, North Kensington, London W10 1LR (map)
Time: From 8pm onwards Price: Free
Not really a gig gig as such, though it's likely that Wayne will play a longer set than you'll have seen recently, as this seems to have been the way of things the last couple of times he has been to the fortnightly Mau Mau's Tuesday night experience. It's anything goes, so anything might. Maybe that random bass player will come back.
The Castle, 225 Portobello Road, London W11 1LU (map)
Time: 8pm Or So Price: Free I Think But Am Not Sure
A last minute solo acoustic booking in London's glamorous Portobello Road, following on from the successfully short set at Edward's on Sunday, where the soundman liked it so much he's booked me to play at his other night in Portobello later in the same week. Perhaps someone else dropped out at the last minute or something. Anyway. It's only a bus ride away so what the hell.
Edward's Bar, 40 Hammersmith Broadway, Hammersmith, W6 7AB (map)
Time: From 8pm Price: Four pounds
Ending the summer (what summer) with an acoustic session at top Hammersmith venue 'Edwards' in Hammersmith. Actually I've never been there but I've heard it's really nice. I don't think that Edward was just saying it either.
Cross Kings, 126 York Way, London, N1 0AX (map)
Time: 8pm Price: FREE
By the grace of Goo has the date for the CD launch and do has been fixed and lo it shall be the 22nd of July. For Wayne spoke unto Goo saying 'You know, I'd really like to have a CD launch gig around about the end of July', and Goo spoke unto Wayne saying 'Well, how about the 22nd then, you can come and do it at my Sunday Cross Kings acoustic cabaret thing which you have already played twice before.' And Wayne spoke unto Goo saying 'That's brilliant. Cheers mate.'
And Goo smiled upon Wayne and spake more saying 'You know, if you want to ask some friends to play as well that would be fabulous', and Wayne frowned, realising that many of his friends are no longer in the UK and therefore may not be available for London gigs even with a month's notice. But Wayne pretty soon brightened up on remembering that he still knows some people in London and he spake unto Goo saying 'I'll get back to you. Cheers again.' And lo it transpired that Kiria and Nick Waugh were up for it, and others To Be Confirmed, maybe also, who knows.
And a Goo time is expected to be had by all.
The Perseverance, 11 Shroton Street, London, NW1 6UG (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Three Pounds With Flyer
Due to circumstances beyond the control of man or beast, Tuesday's not-happening gig at the Cafe Suki has transmogrified into Thursday's definitely-happening gig at the Perseverance. It's still the Acoustic Nights people, it's still going to be great, and mine's still a Guinness. See you there. Ta. (Get your flyer here.)
Cafe Suki, 12 Osborn Street, London E1 6TE (map)
Time: CANCELLED Price: Three Pounds With Flyer
Well. Those very nice Acoustic Nights Dot Co Dot Uk people do appear to like me as they have now asked me back for a third time, this month at ultra-flash little bit of Shoreditch in Aldgate, Cafe Suki. I have maligned Cafe Suki in the past by accusing them of not serving Guinness, which was indeed the case a couple of months back but no longer. What's more they know how to pour it. So there's no excuse to miss this gig. See you there.
Lock 17, 38 East Yard, Camden Lock, London, NW1 8AF (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Free
A welcome acoustic return to Lock 17 after absolutely ages. It'll feel just like 2004 or something, playing in Camden again. That hasn't happened since we were called Fast Freddie.
The Loaded Dog, 485, High Road, Leytonstone E11 4PG (map)
Time: Door 8pm, we're on stage 10pm Price: Six pounds on the door
Another trip to Leytonstone, this time to well-known gig venue The Loaded Dog - and as always with Leytonstone gigs, it'll be a full band lineup including bass, drums and horn section. Other bands will be playing too, including Outta Fashion, Lahayna + Core Project. Rumour has it that you get a free shot of drink on arrival and the gig is definitely on, no matter if I did get a bit panicky last Tuesday. So, miss this one at your peril. Seriously. Please come. Full band. Big sound. None of that acoustic stuff this time. Oh no. I mean it. Ta. kthxbye.
Cafe Suki, 12 Osborn Street, London E1 6TE (map)

I'll be just be doing a short solo acoustic set at David Goo's most-of-the-day and into-the-evening cavalcade of singer-songwriterly lunacy at this extremely pleasant restaurant bar near King's Cross. I'm on about 8:30pm or so, but the thing starts at 3pm if you want to make a day of it.
The Perseverance, 11 Shroton Street, London, NW1 6UG (map)
Time: 8pm Price: Four squid with flyer
Everything went so completely swimmingly at the Perseverance last time, that those excellent acousticnights.co.uk people have asked me back again. This is a fourth time. So I must be doing something right. Perhaps you'll come to this one. Hope to see you there, anyway. Ta.

Lovely fluffy humanitarian environmentalists Down 2 Earth are having another benefit do, proceeds of which go towards sustainable environmental and humanitarian projects in India and Guatemala. There'll be me singing songs, a man called Jason Croot doing some comedy, DJs, visuals, and some vegan food. Actually, last time around, the food was amazing. I hope it's the same caterers.

Corneilius says 'Small Worlds last winter event before heading out to the fields and woods of England for the summer season of festivals, at the 491 Gallery in Leytonstone. A truely wonderful and inspiring night of acoustic bliss, dance bands and Ponys renowned dj sets! Appearing with Martha Tilston, Fridge Magnets and Hightown Crows.'
And, apparently, me. As now confirmed :)
Still can't figure out the door price thing, though. On the 491 site it says that "All events are for members only, membership costs 1 pound a year". So it's like that. Seems fair enough. Should be a fun night.
