The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: Lunchtime Price: TBC

Got an email out of the blue (literally - it was on Facebook) inviting us to play at this year's Croydon Oxjam festival, and, having thought it over for about half a second said oh hell yes to a boozy lunchtime o'music in the best pub in Croydon. More details as we get them, but the Green Dragon is great. Guinness level: highly drinkable but they have a wide selection of fine ales on the menu so you'd be forgiven for exploring elsewhere.

11th October, 2012

Licence To Kilburn

Time: 7.30pm Price: Fiver

Nearly three years to the day since we first played at the Good Ship, we've been asked back for a full band outing at what it definitely now Wayne's favourite local venue, following the closure of the others. Seriously though, it is a lovely place and a fine place to enjoy live music, so why not come down and enjoy us? Guinness level: highly drinkable.

Also on the bill: Israel Cannan, Camber, Poppy's Field and Benji Tranter. All of whom are lush. So we'll be seeing you there then.

7th July, 2012

Story Meal At The Queensbury Deli In Willesden

The Queensbury Deli, 68, Walm Lane, Willesden Green, London NW2 4RA (map)

Time: 7pm Price: Six Quid

A whole new one this. Your man Jean-Marc does these Story Meals, where you turn up and eat food while he tells you stories. I've heard his stories, and they are good. He's a good story-teller, you know. This time around, he's asked me to show up with a guitar and sing some songs in between the stories as well. Just to break it up a bit. I'll probably sing more story-type songs, rather than the other ones. Or not as the case may be. Either way, good food, convivial company, me singing some songs, and some stories: should be great evening.

3rd July, 2012

Freedom Of Expression At The Green Dragon Croydon Again Again

The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: 7.30pm Price: Free

You know, I seriously *love* the Freedom of Expression night at The Green Dragon in Croydon. I can't think of another gig like it in the London area. It's not just that Tim, who runs it, happens to be a great bloke (which he is), nor is it the fact that The Green Dragon is not just clearly the best pub in Croydon but is a reasonable candidate for being one of the best pubs in the South East of England, but rather, it's quite genuinely that every time, without exception, all the other acts are awesome, and it's a pleasure to be involved. Anyway, we're back there again on the 3rd July, so please come down if you're near Croydon. You'll be glad you did.

1st July, 2012

21st February, 2012

Freedom Of Expression At The Green Dragon Croydon Again

The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

You can say what you like about the Freedom of Expression night at the Green Dragon, Croydon, but I still think it's one of the best gigs in town. It's a lovely pub, the sound is great, the other acts are always quality, and Tim, who runs it, is a great bloke and one of the few promotors who actually cares about the music and putting on great nights every night. And it shows.

22nd December, 2011

Full Band Shenanigans At The Good Ship Kilburn

The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, NW6 7JR (map)

Time: 8pm Price: TBC

First full band outing for a while (again). This time we're back at the excellent Good Ship Kilburn for what promises to be a particularly fine evening of music and entertainment. Also on the bill is the multi-talented Chris McConville, with whom we'll be playing keyboards, which is fair enough, as Chris will be playing drums with us. Poor Ralph will be playing bass with both of us, but he's a fine bassist so it would be a shame to waste his talents on only one set. There'll be other acts too TBC. You should definitely come to this one.

8th November, 2011

Freedom Of Expression At The Green Dragon Croydon

The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

This'll be our third acoustic outing to the famous Green Dragon, Croydon: this time we'll be playing alongside Tom Janssen (who is not Dutch), The Douglas Firs (who are not trees), and Laveer (who are not biscuits). All three are - as far as we can glean from the internets - excellent, so this should be a really great night. You know. As opposed to a rubbish night. Anyway, you should come down.

13th August, 2011

Wayne Talks / Plays At Oggcamp

Farnham Maltings, Bridge Square, Farnham, Surrey GU9 7QR (map)

I'm really excited to have been asked to both give a talk and play at this years Oggcamp. I'll be giving a talk on professional music production on Linux - aka How I Made My Album Sound Good Using Ardour And Other Open Source Tools - at around midday on the Saturday, and will also be playing a bunch of songs later on in the evening. It's organised by Linux Outlaws and the Ubuntu UK Podcast people, it's free, and there'll be all kinds of wonderful other things happening too. You should probably come to this.

2nd August, 2011

Renu's Summer Soiree

Time: 7.30pm Price: 2 squid before 8pm, 6 squid after, 4 squid concs

19th July, 2011

Croydon Croydon Croydon Croydon Croydon. At The Green Dragon. Croydon.

The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: Evening Price: FREE

There's nothing wrong with Croydon. Plus we had an excellent night the last time we played at the Green Dragon - which is indeed as fine a pub as it is billed as being - so it'll be great to get back there and Do It All Again. You should come.

6th July, 2011

I Ain't Lion

The White Lion, 232, Streatham High Road, London SW16 1BB (map)

Time: On stage 9pm Price: Free in

Have you been to the White Lion in Streatham? Do you have any idea how incredibly lovely a place it is? Because it is. Lovely. Seriously. You should come down.

2nd July, 2011

Ashley Wood Festival Of The Acoustic Arts

Ashley Wood Festival, Ashley Wood Farm, Fonthill Gifford, Tisbury, Wiltshire, SP3 6PY (map)

Time: TBC Price: See festival website

From the festival website: "The Ashley Wood Festival of the Acoustic Arts is an intimate gathering of the most exciting emerging and established acoustic musicians, poets, and theatre practitioners who will be travelling from all over the country to take part in a weekend of performance and creation. The festival follows no artistic manifesto, focusing instead on excellence and innovation across genres. The ethos is one of collaboration, both amongst performers and between performers and audience. Hence, there will be no amplification anywhere on site, and the 300 ticket holders will be able to watch a wide range of bands, singer/songwriters, performance poets, writers, and actors, unencumbered by huge PAs, vast crowds, and crass commercialism."

Sounds awesome. Also, I'm playing. (NB - may be playing on the 3rd instead. Not sure yet.)

25th June, 2011

CANCELLED We Like Hemel. We Will Play There Again. Hooray.

Indy Jax, 168a The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1BA (map)

Time: Never Price: TBC but last time was six quid

Cancelled owing to circumstances. Hoping to book another Indy Jax date soon... :( Indy Jax is basically the best place in Hemel Hempstead, and this will be the second time we have played there, following the earlier gig that we did before. More details of exactly what will and won't happen as we get them, but if one thing is for certain it is that A GOOD TIME WILL BE HAD BY ALL. Oh yes. This we can guarantee.

22nd June, 2011

New Cross Inn In New Cross

New Cross Inn, 323 New Cross Road, London, SE14 6AS (map)

Time: 7.30pm Price: TBC

Lots of stuff still to be confirmed here, including price on the door, the rest of the bill etc, but what I can confirm is that a) I am playing and b) it will be a great night. That much, at least, is confirmed. I confirm it.

19th June, 2011

Cruising Back To The Good Ship

The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, NW6 7JR (map)

Time: TBC Price: TBC

We enjoyed our last outing to the Sunday Acoustic Cruise at the Good Ship so much we're doing it all again. More details as they arrive.

7th June, 2011

CANCELLED Bouncing On The Bedsprings At The Elixir

Elixir Bar, 162, Eversholt Street, London NW1 1BL (map)

Time: Never Price: None

Cancelled by Dave Bedsprings owing to circumstances. Come and play a real life game of Mornington Crescent at the Elixir Bar, where Wayne will play an early solo set for the lovely Bedsprings people before enjoying the rest of the evening's lineup.

1st June, 2011

Luxe Life At The Luxe Luxe

The Luxe, 109 Commercial Street, London E1 6BG (map)

Time: Evening Price: FREE

So we got this email out of the blue asking us to come and play at top Spitalfields venue The Luxe - so called because it is indeed extremely Luxe - we checked. After checking we found that we were unaccountably unable to say no. You should definitely come to this one. It'll be at the Luxe. In Spitalfields. It will also be AWESOME. I put that in capitals so you would see how AWESOME it will be. Brick Lane Bagel Bake is not too far away. This time we are totally going for a salt beef sandwich afterwards. I don't care. Laurie Carter and equally excellent others also playing. Luxe.

23rd May, 2011

Sweet Sister Starlight CD Launch Party And Do

The Hideaway, 114 Junction Road, London N19 5LB (map)

Finally finally finally - the Sweet Sister Starlight CD will be Officially Launched in an Official Manner, and to celebrate, I'm lining up a great night of music, including sets from the fabulous David Goo and the equally fabulous Sean Taylor, as well as a full band set from me and Exciting Other Things to be confirmed another from the awesome Brian Charles. Can you tell how excited I am? I think you can. I think you can. Hope to see you there.

14th May, 2011

Last Minute Hemel Gig Supporting Molotov Jukebox

Indy Jax, 168a The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire HP1 1BA (map)

Time: Doors 7pm, onstage 9pm Price: Six squid on the door

Now. I'm not saying that I hate London or anything but I'm really looking forward to playing this gig which is NOT IN LONDON as if I go too long without leaving London for a while I GO MAD AND START HITTING MY HEAD ON WALLS AND THINGS. It's in Hemel Hempstead, which is probably no good to you unless you are in striking distance of Hertfordshire, but if you are, hey, Hemel. The very excellent Molotov Jukebox are headlining - they have a Wikipedia entry and everything :) - so if you know where Hemel is, please come down.

9th May, 2011

A mini-festival on a Monday night from the lovely Musicborn people. I'll be playing an acoustic set along with a slew of other fantastic acts. And it's Brick Lane, so there'll be salt beef sandwiches up the road afterwards. Yum.

30th April, 2011

Rocking Out For Frog At The Montague Arms

The Montague Arms, 289, Queens Rd, New Cross, London, SE15 2PA (map)

Time: 8pm Price: TBC

I used to live round the corner from the Montague Arms but never went there, which was madness, it being the best pub in the world. Now that I live the other side of London, I am making up for lost time by playing there as often as I can get promoter / curator / all round good guy Frog Morris to book me. This should be a fun night, involving lots of rock music. More details to come.

22nd April, 2011

12th April, 2011

Freedom Of Expression At The Green Dragon Croydon

The Green Dragon, 58-60 High Street, Croydon, CR0 1NA (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

I'm told The Green Dragon is the best pub in Croydon. I'm also told that Freedom Of Expression run some of the best nights in the London area. Also on the bill are Trombone Poetry - who I have seen before and was amazing - and the genuinely legendary Gagarin. Can't wait for this one.

21st March, 2011

Wayne Plays Solo Set For Bedsprings At Phibbers

Phibbers, 203 Holloway Road London N7 8DL (map)

Time: Doors 7.30pm Price: Three squid on the door

Part gig, part internet album release party, I'm really looking forward to this one. Phibbers is a lovely place and I enjoyed my last outing there last year; this one should be just as good. Not sure who else is playing - more details as I get them.

27th February, 2011

Wayne Plays Short Solo Set For The 15 Minute Club

The Living Room, Unit 1 Tower Bridge House, St Katharine Docks, East Smithfield, E1W 1AA (map)

Time: 7.30pm Price: Free

Now that he has removed his finger from where it should not have been placed in the first place, Wayne is back out gigging again, starting with a short solo set for the lovely 15 Minute Club people at the even lovelier Living Room near Tower Bridge, which used to be called Prohibition, before they put a stop to all that. Not as awkward to get to as it looks on the map, at all, and a lovely night is expected for everyone who turns up.

24th November, 2010

Wayne Plays Solo Set Supporting William Topley

Archangel, 11-13, Kensington High Street, London W8 5NP (map)

Time: 7pm Price: Free

Wayne is very excited about this one, as he hasn't played in Kensington for years and the Archangel venue looks like fun. Also he is supporting the excellent William Topley, who used to be in The Blessing, and has since gone on to Even Better Things. NB: Be Warned! The venue website warns sternly that 'large groups of men will not gain entry' so please bear this in mind, large groups of men, and remember to bring your female friends along to this one.

11th November, 2010

London Bridge Looking Pretty Solid Really

The Bunch Of Grapes, 2 St. Thomas Street, London SE1 9RS (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

Well. Third in a series of three gigs at the Bunch, all being well, and we'll be sure to let you know of any more that might arise. Meanwhile, do come down - it's terribly easy to get to, being just by London Bridge Tube and all - plus it's a really nice place. Really. Rumour has it that they serve Strawberry and Lime flavour Cider in addition to beer, but you'd better be careful with that, as while it goes down like fruit juice it has certain Effects. I capitalised the 'e' in 'effects' just to give you an idea of what kind of effects those Effects might be. Still, fun times, fun times. And music. The Guinness isn't bad either.

7th October, 2010

London Bridge Continues To Not Fall Down

The Bunch Of Grapes, 2 St. Thomas Street, London SE1 9RS (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

This being by way of a monthly residency for us, we'll probably be doing pretty much the same stuff as last time, except for whatever didn't work so well, obviously, and with the addition of any new things that strike us as a good idea at the time. Expect fun times and good music. Also beer. It's a pub. They serve beer.

2nd September, 2010

London Bridge Is Not Falling Down

The Bunch Of Grapes, 2 St. Thomas Street, London SE1 9RS (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

It better not be, anyway. Even if it did, this would hopefully not affect the gig, which is at the Extremely Fine Pub The Bunch Of Grapes which is not on the bridge itself but just down the road and just round the corner from the station. Expect slightly more covers than usual, as it is a rowdy near-the-weekend Thursday night type full band gig in a busy after-work pub where the people - bless them - have a tendency to like crowd-pleasers. This means Wayne will be playing things like Bei Mir Bist Du Shein and Be My Baby along with the usual FatC favourites. And there's nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

25th July, 2010

Owl Be There

Victoria Park Embankment, Villiers St, Victoria Embankment, London, WC2N 6NG (map)

Time: 4pm Price: Free

Wayne was already planning to be at this year's Bluepeace Festival, playing in the Alex Harvey tribute, but has now been asked to do a last-minute solo acoustic set as one of the other bands has dropped out, meaning that what was already going to be a Fine Day Out In The Park has now become Even More Fine Than That, as if such a thing were possible, which it probably is but only just. In case you missed it every year for the last decade, Bluepeace is an all day outdoor blues stage in aid of the owls on a summer Sunday afternoon, so everyone that gives a hoot is expected to be there. Plus lots of random people wandering by and wondering what all the noise is.

22nd June, 2010

Third Time Lucky At The Good Ship

The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, NW6 7JR (map)

Time: 8pm Price: TBC

What with one thing and another various previous bookings at the Good Ship have not ended up happening in the end, but it is a fine and lovely venue and Kilburn is only just down the road from the palatial Wayne Towers in Dollis Hill so Wayne is absolutely totally determined that this one really will happen. Totally. You should definitely put this one in your diary and then show up. A fine evening is promised. More details as we get them.

21st May, 2010

Hot Vox Promotions At Babalou

Babalou, The Crypt, St Matthews Church, Brixton Hill, London, SW2 1JF (map)

Time: 7.30pm Price: Fiver

It used to be the Bug Bar but not any more as it is now called Babalou. But it's still that nice place under the church in the triangle in the middle of Brixton, and it's still a fine spot to spend a Friday evening enjoying live music and fun times. Wayne will be playing an early acoustic slot so it is important not to be late for this one or you will miss the gig. That would be a shame.

24th April, 2010

CANCELLED - Have A Pint At The Haverstock

The Haverstock Arms, 154 Haverstock Hill, Belsize Park, London NW3 2AY (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Never

Cancelled owing to Wayne being unwell. :(

This pub is wicked. Plus the promoters are called The Crucial Music Club. Clearly this night promises to be well decent. Wayne and the band are definitely looking forward to it. And you should come.

14th April, 2010

Loom Bar Cabaret

Loom Bar, 5 Clipstone Street, London W1W 6BB (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Fiver

All being well, this will be the third month in a row where Wayne has played a solo slot at the Loom Bar cabaret night. It's all a bit funny ha-ha except for Wayne, who puts on his Serious Face and is not a comedy act like the others, largely, as he is supplying the Serious Music Item on the bill, though a certain amount of cognitive dissonance can enter into it from time to time. Nevertheless it's a fun night. You should come down.

11th April, 2010

Too Much Sushi Is Not Possible

Matsu, 558 Mile End Road, London, E3 4PL (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

Wayne had a great time at Matsu when he played a solo slot there earlier this year, and so did everyone else, so they've asked him to do it all again. Which will be a pleasure. This time he plans to actually eat as well. Yum.

17th March, 2010

CANCELLED - Wayne Takes The Band To The Good Ship

The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, NW6 7JR (map)

Time: Never Price: None

Cancelled owing to shenanigans at the Good Ship end of things. Bummer. Was really looking forward to this one... Avoid St Patrick's day Kilburn shenanigans and come to the Good Ship instead, where Wayne and others will regale you with musical selections guaranteed not to include Danny Boy. Mostly.

10th March, 2010

Wayne Plays Solo Loom Bar Gig Again

Loom Bar, 5 Clipstone Street, London W1W 6BB (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Fiver

Wayne has been asked back for another solo acoustic set at Loom Bar's super secret monthly cabaret night, and hurrah for this. Expect a wide range of improvised and rehearsed comedy shenanigans from Gwyn Taylor and the gang, plus Wayne trying to sing serious songs with a straight face, possibly with some silly ones thrown in for good measure. Exact line-up to be confirmed.

Wayne Plays Round The Back Of The BBC

Loom Bar, 5 Clipstone Street, London W1W 6BB (map)

Time: 7.30pm Price: Fiver. Seven if you're later than nine. Don't be later than nine.

Promoter Will writes: "Gwyn Taylor>>International Motivator hosts a sparkling array of some of the best cabaret, comedy and music theatre acts around: performing scenes, songs and sketches from London's forthcoming fringe shows - it's like packing the whole Edinburgh Festival into one night only!

The inestimably powerful Ashley Pontius sings songs from the musicals, the piercingly candid Cecilia Holmes delights with her exquisitely cheeky comical songs, and Professor Cornelius Tumber-Pumblechook lulls us into his world of erotic journal-keeping: the Belle de Jour for the coming decade. Stimulate and motivate your senses, with accompaniment from the house band One Man Sparrow, taking in cabaret, chanson and even a dash of the music of the Balkans! You can join the party early with reduced price drinks - happy hour starts 6.30pm."

I write: plus me. See you there then.

Loom Bar, says Will, is just off Great Portland Street, around 8 minutes walk from Oxford Circus or 5 minutes from Great Portland St Station. Please come so they can afford to add the word 'The' to their name, which is currently missing.

Stripped Back Sunday At The Sushi Bar

Matsu, 558 Mile End Road, London, E3 4PL (map)

Time: 6pm Price: Free

I like sushi. Do you like sushi? Of course you do. Everyone likes sushi. So, if you also like music - why else would you even be here - why not come to Matsu in Mile End and you can eat sushi while I sing songs to you. What better way to spend a Sunday could there possibly be? I certainly can't think of one.

20th January, 2010

Wayne plays TABARNAK

The Victoria, 2 Mornington Terrace, NW1 7RR (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Three British Pounds

Wayne is really excited about this one, as he's wanted to do this gig for ages. It's the ultra-pure truly acoustic upstairs TABARNAK lounge dealio, where they have cakes and Lego and NO AMPS OR PA. Now at The Victoria again, instead of the other place, where it isn't.

12th January, 2010

Wayne Plays In Town For High Voltage People - CANCELLED

The Royal George, Goslett Yard, 133 Charing Cross Rd, London, WC2H 0EA (map)

Time: Never Price: Nothing

Gig cancelled owing to promoters parting company with venue. Bummer. Hopefully they'll find a new venue soon. Playing for the lovely High Voltage people, who proved to me that there is still a point to Myspace by writing to me there in order to offer me a gig. So I said yes. See you there. It's so... central.

CANCELLED - Underbelly Is Not Smelly

Underbelly, 11 Hoxton Square, London, N1 6NU (map)

Time: Never Price: N/A

Apologies. Wayne is unwell. Have to cancel this one.

Right. This one's a bit complicated, but after several years of extremely difficult negotiations, we've finally been booked by the Extremely Big And Important International Monto Corporation of Aquatic Rodents (MONTO) to play at their other venue - Underbelly in Hoxton Square (UNDERBELLY) - and not at the Water Rats at all (NO), which is somewhere else entirely. Getting in is easy-peasy: it'll be eight pounds on the door if you just turn up (HI) but they have an Special Early Bird list system (SPECIAL), which means that you (YOU) can get in for only six pounds (SIX POUNDS) if you a) tell me you are coming and how many people you are bringing with you, plus their names and b) show up before 7.45 (EARLY). Simple, isn't it. I don't know why all the venues don't do that.

8th November, 2009

Without the Holloway Road, London would come to a complete standstill. Fact. Also, there's this place called Phibbers, and we're playing there. More details as we get them. A Tuesday in November, yes, but that's no reason for it not to be a great night. Hope to see you there.

4th October, 2009

Cruising Down The Road To Kilburn Yay

The Good Ship, 289 Kilburn High Road, NW6 7JR (map)

Time: 7pm Price: FREE

The Good Ship is this lovely pub just down the road in Kilburn which does live music, and I've been thinking for ages how nice it would be to play there. And now we are, so hurrah for thinking global and playing local. It is the Sunday Acoustic Cruise, so it will be the Official Acoustic Incarnation of the band, unless everyone is busy, in which case Wayne will just do a solo spot. But he hopes not to. More details as we get them.

27th September, 2009

Soundbites At The Abbey Tavern - CANCELLED

The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)

Time: Never Price: Bah

Gig cancelled due to Soundbites not happening any more. Sad face. But many thanks to Radha and co for running lots of lovely nights over the last years and having us play on numerous occasions. I do like the Abbey Tavern. And Soundbites. And playing for Soundbites. At the Abbey Tavern. This time on a Sunday instead of a Tuesday. Sundays are better, you know.

It's that time of year again. How did that happen? I feel like I've only just recovered from the last one. Anyway, I've been asked to play the Bluepeace Festival again, in honour of the owls etc, and not being a churl would not dream for a single moment of turning such a thing down. More details, such as they are, over here. Expect a lovely all day summer drinking session come sun or rain, with the usual blues jam at the end, and me/us playing at some point. Plus friends. And by the owls I mean the Rescuers Wildlife Sanctuary, but I tend to focus on the owls for some reason. The owls have it.

And they've asked me/us to play, which we thought we may as well, it being the end of the world and all. So do come down, and if it isn't the end of the world it won't be the end of the world. So to speak. More details here.

The Montague Arms, 289, Queens Rd, New Cross, London, SE15 2PA (map)

Time: 8pm Price: TBC

It's a Masquerade Ball, so you'll need to be wearing a mask if you come to this one. The excellent Daren Callow is also playing - and, I believe, hosting - plus there are rumours of a special seasonal guest. I wonder who that could be.

Wayne Plays Bluepeace Again

Victoria Park Embankment, Villiers St, Victoria Embankment, London, WC2N 6NG (map)

Time: 2pm Price: Free

I'll be playing a solo acoustic set in the afternoon at the wonderful Bluepeace festival in the bandstand in the park by Embankment Tube station. Bizarrely I've been billed as Fast Freddie, which is not a name I've used for some while, but never mind, it's the same songs anyway. Hang around and later on you can catch me playing again with rock band Vivachi. This is something like the fifth year in a row I've played there and it's always a lovely day out, Bluepeace, so do come, it'll be great.

23rd July, 2008

Wayne's Birthday Gig

The Blag Club, 68 Notting Hill Gate, London W11 3HT (map)

Time: 8pm (give or take) Price: Fiver (I think)

It's all happening this summer, you know. Including a Very Special Birthday Gig at the Notting Hill blagclub, where Wayne - together once again with Hezron Chetty on violin and Paul Tkachenko on bass - will celebrate being Far Too Damn Old with a mix of old and new songs, old and new friends, and an arguable certain amount of sneaking off round the corner to some pub that actually serves Guinness. You should probably come to this one. Really. More news as we get it.

15th July, 2008

Secret Live Recording Thingy Shh

Monkey Chews, 2 Queens Crescent, Chalk Farm, London, London, NW5 4EP (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Not Sure

Shh. You are not to tell anybody about this secret gig, because it is a secret. And I'm not inviting just anyone to this, but being as you are special, you are allowed to come to this one if you like but ONLY if you also come to the birthday gig at the blagclub on the 23rd July, where it is entirely key that I bring as many people as possible. Mind you, I've got the excellent Hezron Chetty on violin and the superb Paul Tkachenko on bass for this one, so I wouldn't blame you for coming this time too.

Wayne Plays At Glastonbury Part The Second

MI7 Stage at Cafe Tango in Glastonbury, A field in Somerset

Time: 7:30pm Price: Free

Another last minute Glasto spot, this time on the excellent MI7 stage at the Cafe Tango place. Wayne would have played a longer set but cut it a bit short to go and see Leonard Cohen instead. Which is Fair Enough, all in all, methinks.

More details here.

Back At The Abbey Again

The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Four squid

Time to go West, my little chickadees, to go West. Notting Hill style West, to be precise, for an acoustic outing at the Notting Hill Blag Club, also known as the blagclub for the shift-key impaired. If there is a Blagclub Blog I can't find it, but that doesn't mean there isn't one.

Uk Web And Mini Comix Thing 2008

Great Hall of Queen Mary University, Mile End Road, E1 4NS (map)

Time: 10am to 5pm Price: Four pounds on the day, three pounds advance

Exciting times are afoot as Wayne finally manages to make it to his very first ever Web Comics Convention type Thing, this one being conveniently located in London unlike most of the others which are in the States and something of a shlep. Wayne will be sharing a table with the excellent Dee Hews of Lights Out, and you can read more about the Thing over on the official Thing Site. NB, this is not actually a gig gig as such, though Wayne will probably be bringing a guitar along anyway.

Let's Go To Kentish Town Again It Was Totally Awesome Last Time

The Abbey Tavern, 124 Kentish Town Road, London, NW1 9QB (map)

333 Motherbar, 333, Old Street, London EC1V 9LE (map)

An unexpected excursion to Old Street, where we have not played since we were Fast Freddie, but we got asked by the lovely Smoky Carrot people so we had no choice but to say yes. This time it's that famous venue 333 the Motherbar, where we have not played before and which certainly never used to have live bands years ago. Just like Old times, then, only totally different.

20th January, 2008

An exciting full band outing to Camden's glamorous Dublin Castle, where Wayne has not played since the Lovejuice disaster three years ago. Since that was positively the very worst gig ever, by anyone, this can only go better. Actually, it promises to be Rather Good. Really.

16th December, 2007

Wayne Plays The Hope And Anchor

The Hope And Anchor, 207 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RL (map)

Time: Fiver, four fifty with flyer Price: 8pm

Rearranged from the previous week's cancellation, it's a welcome return for Wayne to this legendary matchbox sized venue, scene of his triumphant Best Gig Ever To Which No-One Came At All last year or so, though to be honest you could probably fit two Betsy Trotwoods in there, and having said which I've heard it's been done up lately and may be a bit bigger now, plus I haven't been in ages so I don't know for sure. But I digress. Where were we? Oh yes, a gig. That's right. A gig. Acoustic trio duo styley. Please to come. It will be good.

9th December, 2007

CANCELLED - Wayne Plays The Hope And Anchor

The Hope And Anchor, 207 Upper Street, Islington, London N1 1RL (map)

Time: Never Price: None

A welcome return for Wayne to this legendary matchbox sized venue, scene of his triumphant Best Gig Ever To Which No-One Came At All last year or so, though to be honest you could probably fit two Betsy Trotwoods in there, and having said which I've heard it's been done up lately and may be a bit bigger now, plus I haven't been in ages so I don't know for sure. But I digress. Where were we? Oh yes, a gig. That's right. A gig. Acoustic trio styley. Please to come. It will be good.

Super Secret Filming Gig In Town

Reflections Gallery Bar, 71 Great Titchfield Street, London W1W 6RB (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

Sshh! Don't tell anyone about this super-secret free acoustic trio outing for Wayne, Nick Onley on sax and Thomas Quillfeldt on bass, which will be secretly filmed by a hidden camera prior to being broadcast on the intertubes as part of Wayne's extremely original Take Over The World With Music project. And certainly don't come. Oh alright, do come. And tell everyone you know. But - shhh - gently does it.

21st September, 2007

CANCELLED - Fit and the Conniptions Not Playing Earls Court

My Place Night Club, 1-3 Trebovir Rd, London, London, SW5 9LS (map)

Time: Not Happening Price: Gig cancelled

This will not after all be a full band outing for Wayne and the band, this time in a more Westerly than Easterly direction, and not in Leytonstone for once. More details as we get them, since the promoters, Trinity Force Music, are no longer running gigs at this (or indeed, as far as I can tell any other) venue. It would have been really nice if they'd actually told me, but fortunately I am getting old and cranky and I checked with the venue itself. Sorry about that.

4th September, 2007

Wayne Wanders Into Mau Mau's For No Good Reason

The Mau Mau Bar, 265 Portobello Rd, North Kensington, London W10 1LR (map)

Time: From 8pm onwards Price: Free

Not really a gig gig as such, though it's likely that Wayne will play a longer set than you'll have seen recently, as this seems to have been the way of things the last couple of times he has been to the fortnightly Mau Mau's Tuesday night experience. It's anything goes, so anything might. Maybe that random bass player will come back.

29th August, 2007

Wayne Plays Last Minute Gig At The Castle

The Castle, 225 Portobello Road, London W11 1LU (map)

Time: 8pm Or So Price: Free I Think But Am Not Sure

A last minute solo acoustic booking in London's glamorous Portobello Road, following on from the successfully short set at Edward's on Sunday, where the soundman liked it so much he's booked me to play at his other night in Portobello later in the same week. Perhaps someone else dropped out at the last minute or something. Anyway. It's only a bus ride away so what the hell.

26th August, 2007

Wayne Plays Edward's In Hammersmith

Edward's Bar, 40 Hammersmith Broadway, Hammersmith, W6 7AB (map)

Time: From 8pm Price: Four pounds

Ending the summer (what summer) with an acoustic session at top Hammersmith venue 'Edwards' in Hammersmith. Actually I've never been there but I've heard it's really nice. I don't think that Edward was just saying it either.

22nd July, 2007

Fit and the Conniptions CD Launch And Do

Cross Kings, 126 York Way, London, N1 0AX (map)

Time: 8pm Price: FREE

By the grace of Goo has the date for the CD launch and do has been fixed and lo it shall be the 22nd of July. For Wayne spoke unto Goo saying 'You know, I'd really like to have a CD launch gig around about the end of July', and Goo spoke unto Wayne saying 'Well, how about the 22nd then, you can come and do it at my Sunday Cross Kings acoustic cabaret thing which you have already played twice before.' And Wayne spoke unto Goo saying 'That's brilliant. Cheers mate.'

And Goo smiled upon Wayne and spake more saying 'You know, if you want to ask some friends to play as well that would be fabulous', and Wayne frowned, realising that many of his friends are no longer in the UK and therefore may not be available for London gigs even with a month's notice. But Wayne pretty soon brightened up on remembering that he still knows some people in London and he spake unto Goo saying 'I'll get back to you. Cheers again.' And lo it transpired that Kiria and Nick Waugh were up for it, and others To Be Confirmed, maybe also, who knows.

And a Goo time is expected to be had by all.

19th April, 2007

Wayne Returns To The Perseverance Instead

The Perseverance, 11 Shroton Street, London, NW1 6UG (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Three Pounds With Flyer

Due to circumstances beyond the control of man or beast, Tuesday's not-happening gig at the Cafe Suki has transmogrified into Thursday's definitely-happening gig at the Perseverance. It's still the Acoustic Nights people, it's still going to be great, and mine's still a Guinness. See you there. Ta. (Get your flyer here.)

17th April, 2007

Wayne Doesn't Return To Cafe Suki After All

Cafe Suki, 12 Osborn Street, London E1 6TE (map)

Time: CANCELLED Price: Three Pounds With Flyer

Well. Those very nice Acoustic Nights Dot Co Dot Uk people do appear to like me as they have now asked me back for a third time, this month at ultra-flash little bit of Shoreditch in Aldgate, Cafe Suki. I have maligned Cafe Suki in the past by accusing them of not serving Guinness, which was indeed the case a couple of months back but no longer. What's more they know how to pour it. So there's no excuse to miss this gig. See you there.

9th April, 2007

Wayne Is Back At Lock 17

Lock 17, 38 East Yard, Camden Lock, London, NW1 8AF (map)

Time: 8pm Price: Free

A welcome acoustic return to Lock 17 after absolutely ages. It'll feel just like 2004 or something, playing in Camden again. That hasn't happened since we were called Fast Freddie.

The Loaded Dog, 485, High Road, Leytonstone E11 4PG (map)

Time: Door 8pm, we're on stage 10pm Price: Six pounds on the door

Another trip to Leytonstone, this time to well-known gig venue The Loaded Dog - and as always with Leytonstone gigs, it'll be a full band lineup including bass, drums and horn section. Other bands will be playing too, including Outta Fashion, Lahayna + Core Project. Rumour has it that you get a free shot of drink on arrival and the gig is definitely on, no matter if I did get a bit panicky last Tuesday. So, miss this one at your peril. Seriously. Please come. Full band. Big sound. None of that acoustic stuff this time. Oh no. I mean it. Ta. kthxbye.

21st March, 2007

Wayne Plays For The Hub People At Cafe Suki

Corneilius says 'Small Worlds last winter event before heading out to the fields and woods of England for the summer season of festivals, at the 491 Gallery in Leytonstone. A truely wonderful and inspiring night of acoustic bliss, dance bands and Ponys renowned dj sets! Appearing with Martha Tilston, Fridge Magnets and Hightown Crows.'

And, apparently, me. As now confirmed :)

Still can't figure out the door price thing, though. On the 491 site it says that "All events are for members only, membership costs 1 pound a year". So it's like that. Seems fair enough. Should be a fun night.
